Miss Helen’s Weird West Cabaret Update

10 Oct

l1

Well looky here… somewhere along the way i actually made it to the final stretch. I’m putting the finishing touches on the Finale now. I’ve started sending tracks off to the all the singers. I will spend the next month getting the vocals back and most importantly going over everything with a fine, FINE tooth comb. (Is a tooth comb a thing? Is that an old way of saying tooth brush? I mean, HOW would you…) I want this one perfect in its execution.

So, to remind you: This album is Miss Helen’s Weird West Cabaret, The Ballad Of Lost Hollow Act 1. It should be considered a first act, albeit a rather long (60 minutes) first act. Book 1 if you will. After release i will not answer any questions about anything other than what is actually in the album. If you need clarification on anything in one of the songs i’ll be happy to tell you. Speculation beyond that however i shall not be engaging in.

As mentioned previously, this one should be fairly straightforward. It’s not nearly as complex as New Albion stuff… or rather, it’s about as complex as a single act. Think of it that way. It’s a cabaret performed in a saloon in a weird west town, presented in real time. Nice and simple. Instrumentation would be perfect if it were only old timey kind of instruments, just like a truly live performance, but… on that score we’re taking a lot of liberties. One day if performed live we’ll cut down to scaled down live band. This is not all that scaled down. You may complain. I understand your pain. I chose the option in which your ears will have the most intense aural eargasms and i will not apologize for it.  I mean… come on, cut me some slack. Do you want a peck on the outer ear or do you want a blistering, body convulsing eargasm? I have no choice. Forgive me.

I do not have a release date, but it will undoubtedly be in November. No question. Probably in the 20s. Near Thanksgiving for you Americans. It’s mostly down to the singers now. One month is definitely enough time for me to go over every nook and cranny of the music and lyrics. So… mid to late November. The Ballad Of Lost Hollow Act 1: Miss Helen’s Weird West Cabaret.

Exciting! It amazes me that the Slenderman Musical came pretty much a full year ago, and now you’re almost done with your next release (and made progress on that Balkan Rock Opera also… hoping all’s well with that project too!). Time flies.

Has there been confirmation on which of us who submitted spoken-word bits will actually be in “Henry the Alchemist”? I’ve not seen anything and am just curious to know if I made it in.🙂

I really will deal fully with the Henry song very soon. I’m actually waiting on someone specific and then will make a call.

What’s the progress on the Balkan Rock Opera, cause honestly, I’ve just fallen in love with some of those tracks. Especially “The Vizier”

I’m very excited for this. Your music is simply phenomenal, and as you continue to produce, I continue to love music. Thank you!

I’m pleased to be able to clarify the comb matter – it’s the teeth of the comb that are fine (ie the comb protrusions) – it’s not a comb for teeth! Although, Victorian toothbrushes used to be made of ivory and pig bristles! They also used such substances as baking soda, salt and ash as abrasives before toothpaste was invented. Ah, the joys of working in a living museum! (It’s basically Westworld but with real, traumatized humans.)

Thank you for that. At last…
