Physical CD Printing Options

The New Albion Trilogy - Complete

Sooooo….

Making a 7 CD box set is tricky. The trick is that i can make a nice permavue box with all 7 CDs and a big booklet and everything, but we run into problems where the minimum order is more than i will sell and can afford to make.

Another option is printing each opera seperately and you fine folks can buy whichever operas you want, and of course if you choose to buy all 3 you get the 4th album The Room Beneath New Albion for free. It would not all be in some spiffy box, but the CDs packages would be stellar. They’d look great.

Separate albums is not a bad idea. I was going to print The Steampunk Opera separately anyway since it alone makes a great gift idea.

What do you folks think? My guess is, look, ya want some physical CDs. If it’s not a big fancy box, just a nice, fancy opera by opera option, it’s fine, right? Buy all 3, get the 4th album for free.

Thoughts? I can keep looking for options, but i’m thinking at the end of the day it’s just as well to sell the operas separately.

Buy 3 get the 4th free sounds like a good deal, as for the box, it sounds like a good idea.

I’m buying all of them regardless. I personally would like a nice box set but I understand that sometimes it’s not feasible. Although, depending on how many you need for a minimum order, maybe you could do a preorder to help cover those costs? (And like only the preorders would get the booklets as incentive to preorder :> )

If you can do the box, I’d say do it. But I completely understand the monetary difficulties which might be associated with that. I’d buy a full set of 4 separate CDs just as fast.🙂

I have a few fancy boxsets (Devin Townsend’s most recent live albums, Ayreon’s limited edition of The Theory of Everything), and they’re stunningly beautiful but are surely quite difficult to make and get produced on a reasonable budget.

If you do make all of the albums available separately, I’d personally recommend having The Room Beneath New Albion available separately in addition to as a bonus with buying the other three. Not sure if that was already the plan or not, but I figure it wouldn’t really hurt anything.

The completed cover art looks really cool. I still vastly prefer the original cover for the SO to this revision, but this is nicely cohesive also. As an idea: Maybe the booklet in the case for the SO could have one cover on each side, so the owner could switch around which is facing out?

Regardless of what you do, I can’t wait.

As an alternate idea, you could consider taking preorders and gauging what you can produce as they come in. If you get enough for the box set, do that, otherwise do the separate albums. If you’re up front about the fact that it could be either one, I don’t think the fans would mind (though it seems like something which *could* potentially have legal repercussions in certain areas… “pay now and you’ll get one of these two different things” seems like something certain regions may not look to kindly on).

I support this opera by opera option. I worried the box might get complicated and pricey, no matter how much we all dream of owning it. Just having the physical copies is going to be great, and the chance to get the 4th album free is a wonderful bonus.

Count me as vote for Opera by Opera Option.
Although I’d prefer a Box, it’s rather unimportant, and regarding your problems with it, it would be reckless choosing it over a nice and smooth Opera by Opera option, where we now for sure it’s gonna work as planned by you, and it’s gonna be awesome.

My idea is that you could have the box as a preorder only type thing, but still do the opera by opera option. However, if it was just opera by opera, or boxset, I would pick boxset.
