    Dear Mr. Shapera,

I thought that here, where we stand at the crossroads, the ostensible end to your New Albion Trilogy, that I would speak up, even though this might be vaguely creepy. I was given The Dolls of New Albion at a dark time in my life: my mentor had died, my roommate was sick with an illness no doctor recognized, and I was facing my own set of crossroads in regards to my own future, as I had realized that I could not bear to actually pursue my childhood dreams, for the reality of them was so different from what I had imagined. It was a dark time, where nothing made sense and I didn’t know how to deal with any of it. A severe depression set in. One night, one of my darkest and one of her best, my roommate passed me a flashdrive and told me that she thought I’d like it. That it might help chase the thoughts away.

On the flashdrive was The Dolls of New Albion, and I quickly fell in love. Whenever my mood sunk, I would disappear into the world of New Albion, with its dolls and scientists and tragic love stories, and I would emerge able to face the world again. In those days, the Steampunk Opera was one of the few things that kept me going and stopped me from giving up entirely. The promise of another opera lent fuel to the fire, and I found myself still alive when you released The New Albion Radio Hour. It was quickly consumed, replayed, and listened to over and over, while I struggled through my senior year of college.

And now we come to today, to the release of the fourth and final act of the Atompunk Opera, and I feel like… like I’m ready to carry on, move on, go on, which I don’t know if I would have been able to say without this trio of operas. I really can’t say how much the Operas have helped me to carry on, but I honestly don’t know if I would be here without their reassurance, without Annabelle and Priscilla and Constance…

New Albion will always be there for me, just a few button presses away but we have come to the end and the beginning, and it has been such an honor, a privilege, a relief, a balm, to have been on this journey. I know that there is a return to New Albion planned, but I feel like I should say my thanks now.

So thank you Mr. Shapera. Thank you so so much for giving the world The New Albion trilogy, from the bottom of my heart.

    Thank you.

Just finished listening through the whole of Atompunk for the third time now, and it’s only getting better with each listen. I was curious though, will there be character bios/backgrounds done for Atompunk the way there were for Steam and Diesel? I think I might love reading about the world you’ve created almost as much as I love listening to the music (almost). Anyway, the whole body of work has been simply fantastic Mr. Shapera! I hope you keep bringing us all such fantastic content.

P.S. Act III is -definitely- my favourite for Atompunk. It has a fantastic blend of original music and reprises of pieces from previous eras. Blood Red Dogs for life!

Thank you. I’m smiling. I might get around to doing some character backgrounds. I did one for Rachael, but a bunch of it gets tossed because as i made the opera, my understanding of her changed bits and pieces. There are definitely stories in there not told in the opera that would make great bios. The Mascot 3000, or more specifically the experiments and arm of Arcadia research who developed that technology has REAMS of possibility to go into. So who knows? In the upcoming weeks i might decide to go into it all.
