27 Apr

It isn’t like i had any real knowledge of steampunk before i thought of writing the opera and began this blog in order to learn about steampunk and i assume one day i will have posted everything on the net. But this never seems to happen.

On a day like today, when i have noting particular to write about (or more to the point, i have stuff to write about, i just feel like phoning it in) and no particular links in the idea/waiting list i keep for this blog, i just type some random stuff into google. A binnacle is: “a waist-high case or stand on the deck of a ship, generally mounted in front of the helmsman, in which navigational instruments are placed for easy and quick reference as well as to protect the delicate instruments. Its traditional purpose was to hold the ship’s magnetic compass, mounted in gimbals to keep it level while the ship pitched from waves.”
